The company is planning to launch new websites and apps to host community discussions around its platform. The IBM i community reacted poorly to the announcement. IBM started warning developerWorks users about the pending change on October All developerWorks content created by the community, including activities, blogs, files, forums, and wikis, will removed from the site.
Needless to say, the IBM i community did not react positively to the news of developerWorks getting the axe. Ask around if you doubt it. We are in the process of updating other parts of dW to fit with our recently released refresh of the IBM Developer site. We tried to be very clear in our wording with the announcement.
Interested parties can enter their name and contact info, and submit a comment, question, or concern to IBM. The headline was changed to reflect that only developerWorks Community is being eliminated, not the entire developerWorks website. Our migration service moves data from the old to the new server without disruption while the business continues to operate without impacting performance.
Our service avoids long periods of downtime and means businesses can reduce the risk of moving to new hardware. Now, IBM has decided the wealth of knowledge garnered at developerWorks can be summarily thrown out with the trash.
These individual forums were decommissioned on 31 May The questions from many of these forums were migrated to the IBM Support Forum and you can find them using the search mechanism or by choosing the product or topic tag. In general, migration and sunset decisions were decided by the business area. Content that was not migrated was archived or retired. Much of the forum, wiki and community content was migrated to the IBM Support forums. The search field on the IBM Support forum will help you find the migrated content.
