No luck. Norton is screwing me. Are you sure this is Norton Antivirus and not Symantec Corporate? The corporate edition has a much trickier removal process and it would be necessary to confirm the exact version you have.
Assuming, for now, that it is a Norton product you should be able to disable the Automatic Office files scan until we can figure out how to remove the program.
Since we don't know what version you are using, you should look in the Norton Help program in your version under the topics of Office plug-in or Office scans. There you should find a description of how to turn this feature off, which will stop the "Requesting virus scan" messages. But ultimately, you do need to replace your dated software with something designed to handle the more sophisticated threats that have arisen in the last few years.
Back to top. Reg: Jan Kudos 0. I need to get Norton off my computer -- and I cannot. I have the same question 0. Gonna run crap cleaner in a minute How did you people know that Norton still lingered on your systems after you tried to uninstall it?
I was somewhat content with Norton while i had it but LiveUpdate started F'ing up and I know other free antivirus guards can do the job better so i switchet to Avast I think I was doing a Hijackthis! Went back through and there were all sorts of folders! One was a shared components so I just sent it to the recycle bin and as it turned out a couple of programs needed 1 of the files, easy enough to restore.
Hadn't been using Symantec but it kept bringing up error messages with Avast! I am happy now! Boccemon , Jul 15, Plenty for me. Joined Feb 20, Messages 7. I really hope you guys are able to help me.
Needles to say, it is not running now. I keep getting a message saying that it needs to be uninstalled and then reinstalled. I've gone through control panel and removed Norton Antivirus from there, but I keep getting a message saying that there is a version of Norton Antivirus already installed and needs to be removed.
DLL and every time I try to delete this I receive the following message. Access is denied. Make sure disk is not full or write protected and that file is not in use. Joined Feb 23, Messages 16, Reboot into safe mode and try it. Mobo, I tried this twice and still no luck. Anymore suggestions? Open it and do a scan then put a check next to anything norton and close all browser windows and click "fix checked".
Sorry, but it says that the download link has expired. Christer ,. Restart the computer and try again. It can be enabled or disabled with popup menu on right click or double click.
As much as I hate to butt in on somebody else's post, I have a somewhat similar problem pertaining to uninstall reinstall of Norton AV. My son uses MSN Messenger. Get pop up message from AV, Can't scan downloaded Messenger files. Link on message leads to Symantic site, says cause is failed re-install. Cure, uninstall, reinstall. Did that. Done everything Symantic advised, same problem. Just what the devil am I up against here? Some of them will disable your antivirus program.
Can you open the Norton AV program itself from the start menu? If so, can you do a virus scan with it? If not, you could boot to safemode and see if you can run things from there. If I were you I'd try an online virus scan just to make sure. Here's a couple you can try. Zander ,. Then it seems like You have to go kill some processes in TaskManager.
